Mauro defende produção em terras indígenas: “Precisa para de tratar índio como mendigo”

O governador Mauro Mendes (União Brasil) é favorável à exploração comercial e econômica de terras em territórios indígenas, como agricultura, pecuária ou até garimpo. Segundo ele, é necessário parar de tratar o “índio como mendigo” e dar a ele as condições necessárias para sobreviver.

“Fazer qualificação, investir nos nossos povos indígenas para que eles atinjam a capacidade de se auto tutelar. Temos que deixar de achar que nossos índios são mendigos, como muitas vezes eles foram tratados, que ficam lá aguardando uma cesta básica para sobreviver”, declarou em entrevista para o Record News nessa sexta-feira (25).

O governador ainda citou como exemplo os Haliti-Paresi, de Campo Novo do Parecis, que utilizam parte de seu território para plantar milho e soja.

Para ele, esse exemplo deveria ser seguido por todas as outras etnias, e melhoraria a qualidade de vida da população.

“Nós temos uma etnia lá que ela tem 1 milhão e 200 mil hectares, e está plantando 21 mil hectares de soja e milho, dentro da etnia. Depois que eles começaram a trabalhar e produzir, a cultura melhorou, a condição de saúde deles melhorou muito, alguns indígenas que saíram da aldeia há 10, 15 anos atrás para buscar uma vida melhor voltaram, cresceu a população e estão preservando mais de um milhão de hectares”, destacou.

Mauro defende uma mudança na forma de se relacionar com as políticas sociais do país. “Nós estamos exagerando, dando muito, cobrando pouco e gerando aí uma categoria de pessoas que estão ficando dependentes desses programas. Isso não é bom pra elas e muito menos para o Brasil”, emendou.
